SUMIF / Real Estate Agent

Total Sales Volume by Agent Name

I need to calculate the total value of all properties sold by a specific agent named 'Sarah' this quarter.

formula.xlsx
=SUMIF(A2:A6,"Sarah",C2:C6)

How it works: The SUMIF function checks each cell in the specified 'Agent Name' range (A2:A6) for the criteria 'Sarah'. Whenever it finds 'Sarah', it adds the corresponding value from the 'Sale Price' range (C2:C6) to the total. This allows you to quickly aggregate sales data for individual agents without manually filtering or summing.

Data Setup

Agent Name Property Address Sale Price Sale Date
Sarah 123 Main St 350000 2023-10-15
John 456 Oak Ave 420000 2023-11-01
Sarah 789 Pine Ln 280000 2023-12-05
Emily 101 Elm Rd 510000 2023-10-20
Sarah 202 Birch Ct 310000 2023-11-22

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Organize your sales data with columns for 'Agent Name' and 'Sale Price'.

2

In an empty cell where you want the total to appear, type `=SUMIF(`.

3

Select the range containing the 'Agent Name' (e.g., `A2:A6`). This is your `range` argument.

4

Type `,` and then enter the criteria for the agent you want to sum, enclosed in double quotes (e.g., `"Sarah"`). This is your `criteria` argument.

5

Type `,` and then select the range containing the 'Sale Price' (e.g., `C2:C6`). This is your `sum_range` argument.

6

Close the parenthesis and press Enter (e.g., `=SUMIF(A2:A6,"Sarah",C2:C6)`).
