VLOOKUP / Real Estate Agent

Match Property ID to Listing Price

I have a list of sold properties by ID and need to retrieve their original listing price from a master database.

formula.xlsx
=VLOOKUP(A2,E:H,3,FALSE)

How it works: This VLOOKUP formula takes the 'Sold Property ID' from column A, searches for an exact match in the first column of your 'Master Database' (E:H), and once found, returns the value from the third column of that master database range, which is the 'Listing Price'. The 'FALSE' argument ensures that only exact matches are returned, preventing incorrect price assignments.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Identify the 'Sold Property ID' in your current list (e.g., cell A2) as your lookup value.

2

Define the 'Master Database' range (e.g., E:H) where the first column contains the 'Master Property ID' and a subsequent column contains the 'Listing Price'.

3

Determine the column index number for 'Listing Price' within your defined 'Master Database' range (e.g., if 'Master Property ID' is column 1, 'Address' is column 2, then 'Listing Price' is column 3).

4

Set the 'range_lookup' argument to FALSE to ensure an exact match for the Property ID.

5

Enter the formula in the first cell where you want the listing price to appear (e.g., D2) and drag it down to apply to all sold properties.
