List Graduating Cities
I need a unique list of cities where our alumni are currently living based on the survey.
=UNIQUE(B2:B10) How it works: The UNIQUE function automatically extracts all distinct values from the specified range (B2:B10), providing a clean list of cities without duplicates. This is invaluable for Alumni Relations to understand geographical distribution, plan regional events, or target communications without redundant entries.
Data Setup
| Alumni Name | Current City |
|---|---|
| John Doe | New York |
| Jane Smith | London |
| Peter Jones | New York |
| Alice Brown | Paris |
| Bob White | London |
| Carol Green | New York |
| David Black | Berlin |
| Eve Blue | Paris |
| Frank Red | London |
Step-by-Step Guide
Open your alumni survey data in Excel.
Identify the column containing the 'Current City' information (e.g., Column B).
Select an empty cell where you want the unique list of cities to appear (e.g., D2).
Type the formula `=UNIQUE(B2:B10)` into the selected cell. Adjust the range `B2:B10` to match your actual data range for cities.
Press Enter. Excel will automatically spill the unique list of cities into the cells below.
