UNIQUE / Construction Planner

List Active Subcontractors

I have a list of daily logs and need to extract a unique list of all subcontractor companies working this month.

=UNIQUE(C2:C9)

How it works: The UNIQUE function in Excel is designed to return a list of distinct values from a specified range. By applying it to the column containing subcontractor names, it efficiently filters out all duplicate entries, providing a clean, singular list of every subcontractor that has appeared in your daily logs within the selected range. This is invaluable for quick overviews, reporting, or creating contact lists without manual deduplication.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Open your daily log spreadsheet in Excel.

2

Identify the column that contains the names of the subcontractor companies (e.g., Column C).

3

Select an empty cell where you want the unique list of subcontractors to appear (e.g., cell E2).

4

Type the formula `=UNIQUE(C2:C9)` into the selected cell, adjusting the range (C2:C9) to cover all subcontractor names in your data, excluding the header.

5

Press Enter. Excel will automatically populate the unique list of subcontractors starting from the cell you selected.
