Extract Blockchain Chain ID
I need to extract the first 3 letters of the 'Transaction Hash' to identify the legacy chain prefix.
=LEFT(A2,3) How it works: The LEFT function extracts a specified number of characters from the beginning of a text string. In this scenario, `LEFT(A2,3)` tells Excel to look at the text in cell A2 (your 'Transaction Hash') and return the first 3 characters, which represent the legacy chain prefix.
Data Setup
| Transaction Hash | Extracted Chain ID |
|---|---|
| 0xabc123def4567890 | |
| 0xdef987ghi6543210 | |
| 0xghi543jkl2109876 | |
| 0x123abc456def7890 | |
| 0x456def789ghi0123 |
Step-by-Step Guide
Select the cell where you want the extracted chain ID to appear (e.g., B2).
Type `=LEFT(`.
Click on the cell containing the 'Transaction Hash' you want to analyze (e.g., A2).
Type `,3)` to specify that you want the first 3 characters.
Press Enter to apply the formula.
Drag the fill handle (the small square at the bottom-right of cell B2) down to apply the formula to the rest of your transaction hashes.
