COUNTIFS / Neonatal Nurse

Count Feedings per Shift

I need to count how many times 'Baby Smith' was fed where 'Amount' was > 50ml.

formula.xlsx
=COUNTIFS(B2:B9,"Baby Smith",C2:C9,">50")

How it works: The COUNTIFS function is used to count cells that meet multiple criteria. In this scenario, it first looks in the range B2:B9 for all instances of 'Baby Smith'. Then, for those same rows, it checks the corresponding cells in the range C2:C9 to see if the 'Feeding Amount (ml)' is greater than 50. Only rows that satisfy both conditions are included in the final count, providing a precise tally of specific feeding events.

3

Select an empty cell where you want the result to appear.

4

Type the formula: `=COUNTIFS(B2:B9,"Baby Smith",C2:C9,">50")`
