COUNTIFS / Digital Product Seller

Count Downloads by Region

I need to count how many downloads came from 'Europe' for the product 'Ebook V2'.

formula.xlsx
=COUNTIFS(A2:A10, "Ebook V2", B2:B10, "Europe")

How it works: The COUNTIFS function is used to count the number of rows that meet multiple criteria. In this scenario, it simultaneously checks two conditions: first, if the 'Product Name' column contains 'Ebook V2', and second, if the 'Region' column for the same row contains 'Europe'. Only rows that satisfy both conditions are included in the final count, providing a precise tally of downloads for a specific product from a particular region.

Data Setup

Product Name Region Download ID
Ebook V1 North America 1001
Ebook V2 Europe 1002
Ebook V1 Asia 1003
Ebook V2 Europe 1004
Ebook V3 North America 1005
Ebook V2 Europe 1006
Ebook V1 Europe 1007
Ebook V2 Asia 1008
Ebook V2 Europe 1009

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Organize your download data with columns for 'Product Name' and 'Region'. Ensure headers are in row 1 and data starts from row 2.

2

Identify the range containing your 'Product Name' data (e.g., A2:A10). This will be your first criteria range.

3

Specify the first criteria, which is the product you want to count, enclosed in double quotes (e.g., "Ebook V2").

4

Identify the range containing your 'Region' data (e.g., B2:B10). This will be your second criteria range.

5

Specify the second criteria, which is the region you want to count, enclosed in double quotes (e.g., "Europe").

6

Combine these into the COUNTIFS formula: `=COUNTIFS(A2:A10, "Ebook V2", B2:B10, "Europe")` and press Enter.
