SUMIFS / Flooring Specialist

Calculate Tile Area by Type

I need to sum the 'Square Footage' where Tile Type is 'Ceramic' and Room is 'Bathroom'.

formula.xlsx
=SUMIFS(D2:D8, B2:B8, "Ceramic", C2:C8, "Bathroom")

How it works: The SUMIFS function allows you to sum values in a range that meet multiple criteria. In this scenario, `D2:D8` is the range containing the 'Square Footage' to be summed. `B2:B8` is the first criteria range, where the function looks for 'Ceramic' tile types. `C2:C8` is the second criteria range, where it looks for 'Bathroom' rooms. Only rows that satisfy *both* conditions will have their 'Square Footage' added to the total, providing a precise calculation for the Flooring Specialist.

4

Identify the column that contains the 'Room' (e.g., Column C). This will be your second criteria_range.

5

In an empty cell, type the SUMIFS formula: `=SUMIFS(D2:D8, B2:B8, "Ceramic", C2:C8, "Bathroom")`.

Press Enter to get the total square footage for ceramic tiles specifically in bathrooms.
